I was looking to appoint a liquidator to carry out a Members' Voluntary Liquidation of my limited company, so I have researched the market and reached out to a number of liquidation practitioners.What I found concerning, is that for a highly regulated profession, there is a number of different approaches that can be taken in a MVL, and it is unclear which one is the best, both from a liquidation practice and a shareholder's taxation standpoint.I decided to appoint Approved Recovery after a consultation with Marcus Tout, a licensed liquidator and the founder of Approved Recovery, during which he calmly explained that a liquidator protects the interests of the creditors (not the shareholders) and described how providing certain types of advise would conflict with those interests. This was vastly different from the 'conveyor belt' approach proposed by other liquidation practitioners on the market, and I found it reassuring.The level of service provided by Approved Recovery was truly outstanding and often cannot be found in even the most prestigious professional services firms. What sets Approved Recovery apart from the competition is the following:- The service is actually carried by a licensed insolvency practitioner (Marcus Tout) - many licensed liquidation practitioners delegate the work to a more junior or unlicensed members of staff- Approved Recovery has a sister accountancy practice, Approved Accountancy, which can provide advice on matters a liquidator cannot, such as tax and accounting (this is not available in most liquidation practices)- The actual liquidation process is highly streamlined thanks to extensive use of electronic signatures and online services- Approved Recovery can provide a tailored liquidation solution, taking into consideration the rules, industry best practices and the circumstances of your companyMarcus Tout is extraordinarily knowledgeable, highly professional and very responsive.
